Operation Ouch! Invasion of the Snotulons

Our long-standing collaboration with Maverick TV, the makers of CBBC’s Operation Ouch, has produced 3 outstanding, award-winning games. Invasion of the Snotulons is the third web game in our franchise of medical mayhem and this time round, sees Xand, Chris and Dr Ronx going INSIDE the wonderfully disgusting human body in the BBC’s first ever First Person Shooter (er, we mean, First Person Treater).

Together, the three doctors get up close and personal, to tackle an invasion of the Snotulon kind. After Dr Chris gets invaded by Snotulons, the player must shrink to the size of a cell and enter the sickly neon insides of his poorly body. From here, the player must combat the Snotulon infection which has spread to Dr Chris' vital organs: the stomach, lungs and brain.

The deadly infection is characterised by Snotulons - hordes of rampant and relentlessly gunky creatures that are hellbent on shutting down Dr Chris' body. Your mission? Simple. Beat the clock to beat the snot!

Taking on the role of doctor-meets-snot slayer, the player has to scan, find and treat the Snotulons. Scanning Dr Chris' body against the clock, the player must identify the location of bones, vital organs and body parts as they detect and search for the medicine hidden around Chris' body. In this part of the game, kids' knowledge of basic human biology is put to the test in a fun and fast-paced way that doesn't feel like learning.

Once the site of infection has been located, players enter a FPS perspective within a 3D playable zone, where they must help Dr Xand treat the infection, with the time they have remaining. Players must battle against the Snot-o-meter timer and shoot as many enemy germs as possible using a Medicator gun.  There are two types of gameplay mode used to treat the infection: sniper mode, which lets you zoom in and shoot distant Snotulons, and multiply mode, where an explosive grenade-style weapon is used to blast Snotulons at close range. The main aim of the game is to clear each wave before getting sneezed out. Compare your high scores and ranking progress with your friends and work your way up from a Newbie Bogey Bandit to a Super Snot Sniper!

The most rewarding part of our jobs is seeing how the end product goes down with the audience. With over 37k reaction emojis it’s one of the most popular on the CBBC website.  Here are a few of our favourite responses that kids have left in the comment section:

"It's so aweseome! My favourite medicine-blaster is the purple one, because I love using rapid fire on the Snotulons."

"Omg guys I got to the rank Ace Snotulon slayer”

“When i am older i want to be a family medicine doctor”

“Oh I love this game! This and Snot Apocalypse got me through Lockdown.”

To save Dr Chris and start your snot sniping adventure, head over to the CBBC website! Here, you can also watch real-life Dr Chris, Dr Xand and Dr Ronx play the game and go head-to-head for the best score.
