Tee and Mo: Songtime

Plug-in Media has been making Tee and Mo songs since 2015 and there are now 9 animated music videos, one full 11-minute musical special and 8 audio-only tracks available on music streaming platforms. Together the songs are available on many different platforms from the CBeebies TV channel to Youtube and Spotify.  We even sell CDs of the Never Say No to the Music album for those few remaining in-car CD players!   And if that wasn’t enough, publisher, Harper Collins, has chosen the songs as the inspiration for the launch of 4 Tee and Mo picture books.

The suite not only demonstrates our songwriting capabilities, but also our capacity for creating multi-million viewed Youtube content, as well as our digital-first expertise in exploiting content across a multitude of different platforms including the plethora of music streaming platforms.   The songs have also received a number of different award wins and nominations including the 2019 BAFTA for Help Our Little World for short form and the 2016 prix Jeunesse for Come on Get Up.

The focus of the songs and the whole of the Tee and Mo brand is to explore everyday situations through the viewpoint of the bond between young children and their caregivers, and how they both learn to be kids and parents by facing the challenges of daily life together. By setting songs around key points in the daytime routine, children and their caregivers can sing together and use this to reinforce what is going on during the day.

Over the years we’ve been able to assemble a multi-talented song-writing team.  Our Creative Director, Dom Minns, co-writes all of our songs with some very talented co-composers and instrumentalists - Ellie Wyatt, Joss Peach, Joss Peach and Johnny Flynn and we’re thrilled that our Tee and Mo narrator, Lauren Laverne, sings on most of the songs.

“Sometimes I think singing for Tee and Mo might be my favourite job of all” - Lauren Laverne

Here is a run-down of all available Tee and Mo musical content:

Never Say No To The Music (Album)

Never Say No To The Music is the Tee and Mo debut album. The album is packed with fun, catchy original songs, played on real instruments for the whole family to enjoy. Starting with Come On Get Up, in which Tee tries to wake his mum up super early in the morning, the album goes on to sing about playtime, making things, trying to get out the door, animals, eating, feeling sick, looking for things, tidying up, singing and dancing and eventually bedtime, with a lullaby about getting tired and going to sleep.  Play on Spotify here.

Big Boots Birthday: A Tee and Mo Mini Musical

This mini musical reimagines the sung-through musical genre for pre-schoolers. Big boots Birthday is about Tee turning another year older. While he’s near exploding with excitement, he’s also worried this means he can’t be ‘little’ anymore. Luckly, Mo is there to remind Tee that she’ll be growing with him, every step of the way. The EP is accompanied by a fun filled 11-minute episode and is designed to help young children feel understood during the confusing stages of growing up. Available on iPlayer and Spotify.

Tee and Mo Song Time

There are 9 animated music videos available on CBeebies - all featuring Lauren Laverne on vocals, backing singing behind the mic for the first time in over 15 years! They are available on iPlayer, CBeebies website, CBeebies Youtube and Spotify.

Companion pieces Come on Get Up and Go To Sleep book-end the day - with a get-up-and-go anthem to get the day started and a soft and gentle lullaby about Mo putting Tee to bed.

We're not Tidying Up and Are We Ready to Go will provide parents with the familiar challenges of getting everything back in the toy box and trying to leave the house with everything that's required for a day out!

Released to celebrate Valentine's Day back in 2018, Bag Full of Love is Mo’s love song to Tee. The track is a lyrical, acoustic-folk number written by contemporary folk artist, Johnny Flynn.

While Bag Full of Love captures Mo’s love for Tee, Only One Mum is Tee tribute to Mo. The song tackles a cute idea with the brand’s customary light touch humour.

BAFTA award-winning environmental song Help Our Little World is a catchy and high-spirited track about Tee and Mo's pro-active choice to start making small changes to their lifestyles, in order to lead a more sustainable life. From turning off the tap when cleaning their teeth, to bringing reusable bags to Mr Og's shop, it's the little things that make a big difference!

The Christmas Box is about Tee and Mo’s infectious joy in preparing their own special Christmas and features all the traditions they love to share together. It explores the magic felt by every family during the festive season generated through individual preparations for the big day.

Fun at Home was written to inspire children and parents alike to be creative and active, during the lockdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s an inspiring and topical song, in which Tee and Mo discover all of the fantastic things that there are to do at home, whether that’s baking a cake, dressing up in a costume or catching up with friends virtually, and the fun that’s to be had by doing these activities together!
